Renaissance Style Egg Tempera and Brushes Set
Classic egg tempera used by Tuscan artists of early renaissance. It is also used for traditional icon painting and for restoration. Binder is egg yolk, colour chart comes from "The craftsman handbook" by Cennino Cennini a Tuscan Artist of late 1300. Some lightfast pigments (specified in the list) have replaced those who were fugitive, or too expensive(as Lapislazuli) or poisonous. Out of these last, if you wish the original colours, you can order from us dry pigments and egg tempera medium.
Egg tempera, diluited with water, is used thinly and superimposed. Colours are generally applied on a white gesso ground, see our gesso primed wood panels or canvases, watercolour paper is also good. recommended brushes for tempera are medium or long haired round or pointed in Kolinsky sable, squirrel or ox hair.
You get to select 10 colors for your painting set.
