For nearly 40 years, the Narozni family has been hand crafting the ARTFIX line of premium artists’ canvases & art supports for serious painters, painters who insist on museum quality canvas that has been hand-primed according to time honored European methods coupled with modern chemistry. The canvases are manufactured in a small village near Vence in Provence, a mecca for artists, who’s dry, warm climate is ideal for the slow, stable and even drying of primer surfaces.
A range of canvases is available from the tightest weave, finest tooth quadruple primed Belgian “handkerchief” linen to robust heavy toothed linens ideal for large format works. These are the only pre-primed canvases that are double sized before priming. A specially formulated acrylic sizing is applied to every canvas twice to completely isolate the fabric from the acids contained in the primer and the paints themselves. The canvas then receives from one to six coats of either oil based, or acrylic universal primer. The formulation of its oil-based primer has the feel, strength, adhesion, luminosity and absorption of a traditional white lead primer without the toxicity. The acrylic universal primer is a “best of both worlds” acrylic primer that has many of the absorbent characteristics of an oil-based primer. Special half (85’ x 5.5 yards) and quarter rolls (42’ x 5.5 yards) offer the same premium quality at an economical price. Five different linens and over 50 different types of canvases are available, including state-of-the-art, conservator grade polyester canvases.

- Finest Belgian line, featuring the longest natural thread (fewer knots) for a strong, flawless surface. Linen's ph stability is far superior to cotton, whose vulnerability to external and internal acids compromises its permanence
- Double sized for protection against oil paints, allowing uniform "breathing" which reduces paint film stress
- Up to 4 layers of primer are hand applied and sanded - care that prevents peeling, flaking or cracking.
Lead Style Oil Primer
Provides traditional lead ground qualities without its toxicity. its unique absorbency allows oil paints to "bite" into the surface, increasing adhesion and depth of color. When glazed, colors glow from within.
Universal Primer
Emulates many of the characteristics of oil-based primers, with acrylics durability and elasticity. Unlike "glossy" acrylic prmers, its surface is more matte and absorbent. Excellent for oil paint, acrylic paint and drawing media.
